There are 37,400 concreters in Australia, who pour, spread, level, smooth, shape and seal concrete to create structures such as floors, stairs, ramps, footpaths and bridges. Ninety-two per cent of this group are male and work full-time - 42 hours a week on average - to earn $1154 a week. Most have no post-school qualifications (65 per cent) but 24 per cent have completed a certificate III or IV course at TAFE. Queensland employs the greatest number of concreters of any state in Australia, followed by NSW and Victoria. Employment growth in the industry to 2012-13 is expected to be moderate.-- MEGAN BYRNESource: joboutlook.gov.auFor more salary advice, visit mycareer.com.au/salary-centre.
